Re: Anti-Consolidation Rally
Must be only a handful of people, at the APPY / PV ballgame last night, there was a good physical game and the kids on both sides played hard and fair. No penalties for roughness, no late hits, makes you wonder and no trash talking.
After the game the players and coaches met and exchanged handshakes.

Re: Anti-Consolidation Rally
Ok instead of rallys, petitions, and all that....maybe instead of a small handful looking out for their own, maybe they should actually do what they needed to do the ENTIRE time. Work together. I know its such a terrible idea, but if a small handful of people in just about every town would stop trying to hate on the other towns, they could ALL be better off. Nobody wants to lose their towns schools, but guess what, its gonna happen and its not due to the fault of the current School Board, BOS or Superintendent. It's not due to any of them, the fault goes deeper, longer and is more due to the entire area declining. Notice nowhere in our area is growing. So instead of thinking about who to blame, or how to avoid change, realize its here, and the attitude of trying to learn to deal with it, and get the best out of it to help eventually improve it, is the only way to save it. People don't want their kids to suffer. Its time to realize that you gotta help your kids improve so that their kids are within hours of here and realize this area even exists. Instead of putting so much energy into saving buildings, the effort, energy and yes money should be put into trying to help grow the area. It seems kind of definitive something has to be done, and obviously in trying to make everybody happy, there about to go with a solution that nobody is happy with. Guess what, its not 30 years ago, people in Pound/Wise or Appy/BSG, etc actually talk, see each other, and communicate. Heck they are friends and due to phones, internet, roads, etc, they actually stay in touch. Years back, those people were your enemies because the only time you saw them was at a ballgame, heck yeah people hated each other. Now the kids text each, hang out and yes, date...anybody remember when it was near death for a girl to come to school with a letterjacket of a player from another school? Heck I do and I'm not that old *lol* It's not the days of sworn enemies. If a small handful would work together, they could probably come up with ideas that would work but the problem is, the voices that are heard, are the ones who want, but don't want to give. Appy doesn't want BSG to have the school, well put it out of the towns, not in the corporate limits of anybody. Let everybody give. The 2 school idea is not a good idea IMO, not on one site particularly, but this option is being pursued more due to the fact of the very vocal minority who seem unbending. If they would say ok we realize our school is going to have to go, we don't want our town to be destroyed, so lets work. Maybe they can't build a school in Pound now, but decide to make JW Adams a K-7 for Wise/Pound and make the Wise location the high school. Again just ideas but that way both communities have schools still, something for the community and both have to give, both get to take.
I dunno just in a mood and feel like there should be a give/take but having watched some of the meetings of late on TV, not sure how its gonna happen, because too many wanna take but nobody wants to give.
Re: Anti-Consolidation Rally
Excellent post, in my opinion. Maybe a move to Wise County and public office is in your future.
Re: Anti-Consolidation Rally
Maybe and Anti-Wise County rally would help get everyone on the same page.
